Progressive cuts ties with insurance agency over racist

Progressive confirmed to Insurance Company that it will be terminating the connection with the insurance coverage agency.

A Progressive spokesperson reported: “We’re mindful and appalled by the signal not long ago posted at the Harry E Reed Agency and are terminating our romance with the company. At Progressive, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are essential to our Main Values.

“We’re dedicated to generating an environment wherever our people experience welcomed, valued and highly regarded and assume that any one symbolizing Progressive to consider portion in this commitment.  The signal is in direct violation of that determination and doesn’t align with our company’s core values and code of perform.”

An impression of the racist signal, shared on Monday, prompted outrage on social media.

Allura Stillwagon, who shared the signal with her on the net next, explained to NPR: “I experienced to browse it more than after since I thought it was some thing [my mom] noticed on Facebook. But when she reported it was a enterprise [in town], I was promptly disgusted.”

In a statement on Tuesday, Steve Golieb, chair of Millinocket City Council, condemned the indication as a “blatant disregard of human decency”.

“It is deeply saddening, disgraceful and unacceptable for any man or woman to endeavor to make gentle of Juneteenth and what it represents for tens of millions of slaves and their residing descendants,” Golieb mentioned.

 Millinocket is a “beautiful put to reside,” Golieb stated, and the town “does not acknowledge or endorse nearly anything short of inclusivity”.

Juneteenth is a federal US vacation that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African People, celebrated on June 19.
